PRACTICAL WORK IN SCIENCE CLASS

INTRODUCTION

In Degree in Biological Sciences Unimes in Discipline Methodology and Practice of Teaching Science I, we were challenged by Professor Simon Thiago for us to do a review on the virtual course forum , the question regarding classes and the methodology currently being used or not she is encouraging students to search .

EDUCATION IN MODERN SOCIETY

With the current posture of liberal society , where authority figures were suppressed and the excesses of freedoms promoted a misunderstanding on balance freedom -responsibility , there was a major weakening of the authority figures in the western world , so parents and teachers left to be seen by children - students as symbols of all- powerful and lost the coercive power to determine the activities of subordinates with powers to punish them with physical punishment . I consider it a tremendous setback society and point .

If on one hand the teachers lost absolute power in the classroom , on the other hand, the same State that took the teacher's authority to punish students with physical punishments and reproofs , has required teachers the same efficiency of the past . The State believed that students should study for the sake of knowledge and not for fear of the teacher and of the consequences . Great deception .

Fear and awe are priceless virtues that provide all the creatures of the world to commit to preserve attitudes insane . The herds of wildebeest , zebras and other animals only survived in the jungles infested felines because fears made ​​us to be perpetually on guard. Without the coercive force of fear , it was difficult to teach. I refuse to hear opinions from people who are in office philosophizing about life out there , and imagining in your mind how to run a world platonic ideal . We must listen to teachers of public primary and secondary schools . Scholars and doctors who live with only books are useless to dictate rules on student-teacher relationship . But this is the reality in which we live , as a consequence , research shows that teachers are stressed professionals , second only to the police . I could stretch for tens of pages writing about the emotional situation of teachers today is a profession that gives its occupant, a good leave- care, stress and depression . Largely the fault of Paulo Freire and his gang of Doctors of Education who know nothing about education or social hierarchies by which built the history of mankind and all species of animals . Only the plant kingdom is that you put a plan in place and she is still in the animal kingdom and human , imposing rules , disciplines and punishments are essential to maintain social order .

I am appalled when I see school principals charge of teachers to improve the grade of the students , if students are not learning , teachers to revise their methods , and if the students stay in the red, the teachers who are in charge of proposing a plan recover students . The Departments of Education , also pressuring the directors as a condition requiring them to remain in office is that pass rates are high and there is low truancy. Education is no longer a subject teacher and happened to be run by unscrupulous politicians who only know one SCIENCE , the science of statistics , because the votes are measured by numbers , and politicians want numbers representing magnitudes social . Approval is not the solution , as shown in these figures :

It is in this context of political pressures that require good performance of teachers , without however giving teachers mechanisms for disciplining teenagers erupting hormone that educators are getting sick and unmotivated to exercise this profession . Recently, a matter of a few years ago , I saw a Seduc Authority Santos on TV begging for candidates to contest the faculty discipline , due to lack of candidates interested in teaching in public , especially at the periphery . Remained as teachers , people with altruistic attitudes and incompetents who only managed this qualification , so these latest work with all the bad mood of the world , or the unforgiving heart .

FIRST THEORY

Before the dark picture I painted above, we see that there are two types of teachers, who still maintains a blind faith in their work and believed to reach a safe haven , despite swimming against the tide , and those who , tired with strenuous routines with the lack of respect for students with low wages , think : " I want more than these wastes be damned , I'll do my part if you want to learn , and if they do not want their misfortune , I will ensure my salary , they that chipping . " Once you decided the way you will take in your life , let us now analyze how teachers should act science that keeps faith in his work.

First thing that a science teacher should acquire is a good theoretical basis for their discipline . No one can give what he does not. Thus , the person who proposes to be a science teacher should always be studying science , as this is a subject extremely rich and constantly evolving.

The renewal of the contents and the search for new laboratory practice that can help students and teachers to compose critical mass dedicated to science become one of the points of critical importance in trying to update and scientifically literate our students and teachers ( Ana Lúcia da Silva Vasconcelos )

Since we have well-trained teachers , we'll soon have people qualified to guide students in the study of science . However, the lectures can never be replaced by practical classes . Every practice session , just as the stage , aims : to complement and enable the student to understand the guidelines , rules , laws and theories that regulate scientific knowledge .



CONTROLLED EXPERIMENTS

Every class taught , the teacher may propose controlled experiments for students . When students can put into practice a theory of chemistry , physics and biology class is certainly more interesting . A simple job that requires the students the scientific spirit of patience to get the desirable results .

Models of experiences exist in large quantities on the internet and it is up to science teacher select those that may be workable environment in the classroom , on the patio or in the school laboratory . CURIOSITY

Teachers are challenged to catch many teenagers and young rebels and lazy and instigate the curiosity that exist in each of them . One challenge is to speak to an audience interested and eager for knowledge , another thing is to encourage people with learning difficulties , family problems , living in violent communities and survive on meager wages in the periphery of their parents , and many children are unemployed or underemployed or living with parents junkies and criminals .


COMPETITION

Other ways to inspire students I have seen in some schools , teachers organize competitions competitions to stimulate students to study science and to develop projects to compete between classes . Recently, now in August 2012, students of the eighth and ninth years were wonderful views of scientific experiments , I was fascinated when I saw the contraptions they create . Emulation is the provocation of the feeling of rivalry between people , seeking to bring a person to equal and surpass another . This competition is run by teachers and by the direction of the school may be an encouragement to the students , not letting anything slip into enmity . The emulation is scientifically healthy between classes or between classes within the same class . The teacher may propose tasks to be compared , which one was the best .

NOTE


An example that can be prepared in the classroom with low costs , is to plant a few beans in small containers and daily shooting until the plant is bearing fruit . In each photo , the student can write their comments on the development of the plant , in the end he could make a presentation talking about the entire cycle of this plant , how many grains it produced , how many leaves the plant came to have in their branches . A school patch can be used as outdoor laboratory . A study on the influence of light on plant can also be done simultaneously with other beans planted in semi-shade and others with very little exposure to light , so the students can make comparisons and conclusions . A plethora of research can be developed in science classes only requiring observation gives students and annotations of changes of the objects they surveyed .

CONCLUSION

I hope that all science teachers renew their expectations regarding the importance of his mission to teach. Even though not all students want to participate fully in this fascinating moment of life , it's time to learn , we must remember that some will bear fruit and be a better person thanks to science teachers who helped their pupils to grow as a person .
