CELL CULTURE

By: Valdemir Mota de Menezes, the Scribe

Unlike other techniques where the cell is dead, the culture allows the monitoring of the living cell. It is a difficult technique to be conducted as it requires special equipment and a local, fully sterilized. The sterilization techniques are so important that the slightest contamination can jeopardize months of research.

To stay alive, the cells should be placed in appropriate containers of glass or plastics, known culture plates or bottles. For each cell type there is a specific nutrient medium and the time that the cells remain alive in vitro also varies.
