Solute and Solvent
It is a frequent component of a solution is present in an amount much larger than the other components. This component is called solvent and each of the other components is called solute. After dissolve one gram of sugar in one liter of water, we refer to water as the solvent and sugar as
the solute.
Because they are very
common, solutions where the solvent is water are called aqueous solutions. (by Biologist Valdemir Mota de Menezes)
